6. Orbey Town Hall

The 11th Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Regiment of Tunisian Tirailleurs and an armoured detachment from 1st Platoon, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cuirassiers Regiment, coming from the Market Place, reached the Town Hall and at the end of the morning linked up with 7th Company, Marching Regiment of the Foreign Legion and elements of 96th Engineers Battalion who, during the night, had repaired the bridge at the lower end of the village.
The liberators took 254 German prisoners in the village and lost more than 30 killed and 70 wounded.
Captain ROUVIN, commander of 11th Company, was killed by a bullet to the heart.
The centre of the village of Orbey was liberated by the evening of 16 December.
This tree was planted as a memorial to the liberators by the pupils of Orbey Primary School on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary.
